According to the Ministry of Water Industry and Agriculture of the country, agrarians of Surkhandarya, Andijan and Bukhara regions of Uzbekistan harvested over 690,000 tonnes of qualitative wheat, which exceeded all planned volumes. In Andijan region, farmers even reached the yield indices of 70 c/ha with average indices of 62.1 c/ha.
According to statistics data, in 2008, the grain harvest in Uzbekistan totaled 6.73 million tonnes, down 0.6% compared to 2007. The domestic consumption totals nearly 5 million tonnes.
