The factory will produce 500,000 tonnes of alumina and 7 million tonnes of high endurance cement, which will be used at Angren coal field.
Uzbekugol and RUSAL (Russian Aluminum Company), All-Russian Aluminum Magnesium Institute signed the protocol of intentions in May with respect to construction of alumina and cement factory in Uzbekistan.
Construction of the factory will begin in 2011 and will be completed by 2014. So far, Uzbekistan has no its own aluminum enterprises. Alumina will be exported to Russia and China.
Agren kaolin coal field is in Tashkent region. Its brown coal reserves total 2.5 billion tonnes, its kaolin clay reserves total 15 billion tonnes. Over 3 tonnes of brown coal is extracted annually.
