Uzbekistan to enhance system for preventing wasteful energy consumption
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President has adopted a resolution titled "On improving measures to prevent illegal use and wasteful consumption of fuel and energy resources, as well as enhancing energy efficiency."
The document aims to save 2.5 billion kWh of electricity and 1.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas by transitioning consumers to alternative energy resources and implementing energy-saving technologies across various regions.
Key measures outlined include:
Saving 1.6 billion kWh of electricity through the installation of renewable energy sources, including solar panels with a total capacity of 785 MW and over 9,000 solar collectors with a volume of 1.2 million liters, to be installed at more than 74,000 sites.
Saving 45 million cubic meters of natural gas through the construction of small-scale photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of over 100 MW in 300 neighborhoods (mahallas) inhabited by socially vulnerable populations.
Saving 39 million cubic meters of natural gas by expanding the use of energy-saving equipment in budgetary institutions.
Additionally, a program will be established in 2025 for installing renewable energy devices, transitioning consumers to alternative energy sources, and introducing energy-saving technologies, marking a significant step in the accelerated transition to a "green economy."
By 1 May 2025, integration of the "Yashil Imtiyoz" (Green Incentive) information system of the Off-Budget Intersectoral Fund for Energy Saving, under the Ministry of Energy, with the relevant information systems of commercial banking partners is also planned.
