Uzbekistan to double water inflow to Shardara

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As a result of a business trip of the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan Zulfiya Suleimenova to the Republic of Uzbekistan, an agreement was reached with the Uzbek side to increase the flow of water to the Shardara reservoir with a flow rate of up to 200 m³/sec. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As of 28 July, from 7:30 am (Tashkent time) water discharge from the Dostyk head structure into the alignment of the Syrdarya river is carried out with a volume of 20 m³/sec. Water is discharged by increasing the inflow to the Akzhar gauging station (inflow to the Bahri Tojik reservoir) and, accordingly, increasing the release from the reservoir.

At the same time, the Uzbek side intends to increase the flow rate of discharged water from the Dostyk head structure to the Syrdarya river site to 50 m³/sec.

In addition, on the same day, the water release from the Charvak reservoir (Gazalkent HPP) was increased from 290 m³/s compared to the previous day (July 27 this year). up to 310 m³/sec.

However, this volume of water is still not sufficient to discharge water into the alignment of the Syrdarya river and is sent through water management channels for irrigation in the Chirchik river basin.

For reference: the volume of water in the Charvak reservoir as of July 27 of this year. - 1936 million m³ (maximum volume - 2006 million m³.).
