Uzbekistan to direct over US$390m to develop rural areas in 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will invest over US$390 million in equivalent for development and construction of habitations and social infrastructure in rural areas in 2010.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov announced about this at his greeting message to the participants of the international scientific-practical conference “Effectiveness of anticrisis programmes and priorities of post-crisis development (in example of Uzbekistan)”.

In his message, Uzbek leader said the special attention is paid to issues of realizing measures on increasing internal demand due to mobilization and further stimulation of participation of banking structures, business entities and population in investment processes.

Programme on speed-up development and construction of habitation and social infrastructure in rural areas can serve as an example to this. The programme is directed at reconstruction and modernization of rural areas to bring life conditions in rural areas to those in the city, he said.

Uzbek President said the powerful designing, industrial-construction, engineer-technical potential and other necessary organizational structures were created to realize this large programme, designed for long-term perspective.

He said through special created bank and its branches [Qishloq Qurilish Bank OJSCB] in the places will direct over US$390 million equivalent in 2010, which is up four times compared to 2009. At the same time, as of 1 April 2010, builders invested over US$60 million of own resources. It is expected that over 7,600 houses with the cost of US$400 million will be constructed in rural regions of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov said.

President said the realization of this programme will form powerful demand in all construction related industries and create new jobs.
