Uzbekistan to cut cotton-fiber export to 750,000 tonnes
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Uzbekistan plans to cut export of cotton fiber to 750,000 tonnes in 2009/2010 season compared to 880,000 tonnes in 2008/2009 season due to increasing of internal processing, an Uzbek official said at the Fifth International Uzbek Cotton Fair in Tashkent.
Deputy Minister for Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade Akmal Kamilov said Uzbekistan continues policy to decrease export due to creation of capacities on processing cotton fiber. He said the internal processing will be raised from 200,000 tonnes to 300,000 tonnnes of cotton fiber.
Uzbek official said currently main buyers of the Uzbek cotton are Bangladesh, China, Russia and Turkey.
