Uzbekistan to create Solar Energy Institute
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan is planning to create Solar Energy Institute at the assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

According to the website of the ADB, the bank issued grant for US$225,000 for design and development of the Solar Energy Institute.

The bank said that Solar Energy Institute will to promote, develop and transfer modern solar technology. Through the SEI, the Government aims to become the regional knowledge hub on solar applications.

Institute will act as scientific-technical and design organization, which will create concrete projects on solar energy.

According to some calculations, opportunity of renewable energy in Uzbekistan can be equal to 51 billion tonnes of oil.

Current technologies will allow Uzbekistan to produce energy equal to 179 million tonnes, which exceeds the volume of produced energy in Uzbekistan three times and allows to cut emission of 447 million tonnes of carbonic acid gases, various sulphureous compounds, nitric oxide, etc.
