Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Uzbekistan plans to conduct a population census in 2026.

The census is scheduled to take place from 15 July to 21 August 2026. This plan is outlined in a draft presidential decree published for public discussion.

To organize the census process, a Republican Commission will be established, along with territorial commissions under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional khokimiyats, and the city of Tashkent.

The necessary technical and software resources for the census will be procured in the coming years with funding from the World Bank.

Responsible authorities have been instructed to complete the installation of signs displaying the names of settlements and streets, as well as the full numbering of houses and yards by July 1, 2025.

The census was initially planned for 2022 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was also canceled in November 2023 due to a lack of funding.
