Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is set to pioneer waste-to-energy conversion among Central Asian countries.
At the end of 2024, Vice President of Chinese company Shanghai SUS Environment Co. Ltd, Tom Shi, praised the partnership with Uzbekistan and outlined promising prospects in household waste-to-energy processing.
Under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan has been actively advancing initiatives in waste management and renewable energy, attracting foreign investors and facilitating the adoption of modern technologies.
In 2024, Shanghai SUS Environment Co. Ltd entered the Uzbek market, offering innovative solutions for sustainable development. With the launch of waste-to-energy plants, Uzbekistan is expected to become the first country in Central Asia to implement such environmentally friendly technologies.
Company representatives highlighted that the success of these projects was made possible by the favorable investment climate and the support provided by the Uzbek government.
Among the company’s long-term goals are the production of equipment meeting international standards, engaging leading Chinese companies in joint projects, training local specialists, conducting scientific research, and developing regulatory frameworks.
Investment of approximately US$1 billion is planned for the realization of these initiatives.
By 2025, cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in this sector is expected to deepen further, providing new momentum to bilateral relations.
