Uzbekistan to be banned from football for alcohol and cigarettes consumption

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Football Association created a special inspectorate to combat illegal activities, which impede the development of the country’s football. This was stated by the First Vice-President of AFU Umid Akhmatdjanov.

He noted that all efforts will be aimed at combating actions, which impede the development of football, such as bribery, corruption, extortion, contract games, tote and so on.

Akhmatdjanov added that a special commission will control and maintain a healthy lifestyle of football players.

According to him, players who abuse alcohol and cigarettes, as well as hookah, can be banned from football for life.

The first Vice-President of the UFA criticized that some football players spend time in nightclubs until dawn, drinking alcoholic beverages and smoking hookah, which threatens the physical preparation of players before important games. He added that this could also affect the results of the national team of Uzbekistan.

He stressed that football players must be professionals and take care of their fitness.

Football players who spend money on entertainment and do not observe a healthy lifestyle, will be suspended from football for life, said Umid Akhmatdjanov.
