Uzbekistan to attract US$100m ADB loan for rural habitation construction
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to attract loan of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for at least US$100 million to construction of habitations in rural areas, the Uzbek President said on Friday at the session of the government.

Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan held the session on 21 January 2011 to discuss social-economic development in 2010 and important priorities of economic programme in 2011.

Uzbek President noted that it is planned to construct 7,400 houses in 357 blocks, as well as objects of social purpose and municipal economy in 2011.

President said it is necessary to mobilize to this purpose for over 500 billion soums, including 140 billion soums from the State Budget and attract preferential credit line of the Asian Development Bank for at least of US$100 million.

Uzbek leader noted that some 6,800 houses, based on standard projects, have been constructed in all 159 rural areas of Uzbekistan in 2010.

He said that capital investments for about 430 billion soums were directed to this purpose, of which 250 billion soums were long-term preferential loans. Islam Karimov said that it is nine times up compared to 2009. Since the launch of programme at new blocks, about 165 social and market infrastructure objects were constructed.
