Uzbekistan to attract IDB resources to modernization of hydro power stations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan is planning to attract resources of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) at the size of US$100 million to modernize two hydro power stations.

RIA Novosti reported quoting representative of Uzbekenergo that the government applied to the IDB to receive financial resources.

The report said that Uzbekistan is expected that the IDB will approve the loan in the fourth quarter of 2012.

The Government of Uzbekistan plans to use these resources to modernization of Farkhand hydro power station and hydro power station 14 in Tashkent region of Uzbekistan.

The project was included to the programme of cooperation between the IDB and the Government of Uzbekistan for 2011-2013.

Modernization of the station envisages replacement of generators and turbines, as well as electric equipment, etc. The project implementation will allow to increase generation capacities of two stations by 30 megawatt. The project will be implemented within three years.

The project cost is US$165.7 million. Along with the IDB resources, the project will be also financed due to resources of Uzbekenergo and the Uzbek side.
