Uzbekistan to attract a loan from ADB for construction of agro-logistics centers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to attract loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to implement the project “Developing the infrastructure of the value chain in the fruit-growing sector”.

A draft decree of the President of Uzbekistan “On measures to implement the project “Development of the infrastructure of the value chain in the fruit-growing sector” with the participation of the Asian Development Bank” was published.

According to the document, the ADB can provide Uzbekistan with funds in the amount of US$197 million for implementation of this project. The total project cost is US$244.75 million.

ADB will provide funds for 25 years, including a five-year grace period. Uzbekistan’s contribution to the project will be US$47.75 million, including in the form of tax and customs payments in the equivalent of US$39.15 million and payment of financial costs in the investment period - in the equivalent of US$8.60 million within the project implementation period (2019-2023).

The project envisages the construction of agro-logistic centers for processing, sorting, packing, storing and supplying consumers with fresh and processed fruits and vegetables.

The project is being implemented in Andijan, Samarkand and Tashkent regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The project customer is the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
