Uzbekistan to announce tender for copper field exploration in 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- State Committee of Geology and Mineral Resources of Uzbekistan plans to announce a tender on exploration works at copper field in Navoi region in the first quarter of 2010, Prime-Tass reported quoting representative of the Uzbek body.

Forecasted copper reserves /P2 category/ in territory of Jengeldy area are about 600,000 tonnes and molybdenum reserves at 50,000 tonnes. The Uzbek committee said that it is preparing tender documentation on exploration and mining of copper and molybdenum ores at Jengeldy area at Northern Bukantau mountains.

The winner of the render will receive right to use territory and license to use entrails to explore and min copper and molybdenum ores. The license will be given for five years.

Currently, Uzbekistan is using copper field in Tashkent region. Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Combine, only copper producer in Uzbekistan, develops Kalmakyr and Sary-Cheku fields with total reserves of 17 million tonnes of copper. Currently, about 20% of reserves were mined.
