Uzbekistan to allocate 572bn soum to education system development
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will issue 527 billion soums to development of education system in 2012, the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said in his congratulation message to teachers and tutors with their professional holiday.

The Uzbek President said in line with the recently adopted resolution, the programme for construction, reconstruction and capital repair works of academic lyceums, professional colleges and general education schools, music and art schools, as well as equipment of sport establishments was adopted and it envisages allocation of over 527 billion soums to development of the education system.

He added that in near it is planned to direct 300 billion soums to implementation of programme on modernization of material-technical base of higher education establishments, equipment them with modern equipment, improving training of cadres, stimulate labour of teachers. He said that all these will be another big step to lifting education system of Uzbekistan to new quality level.

President underlined that Uzbekistan implements wide-scale state programme on developing school education and large works on construction, capital repair and reconstruction and equipment of 8,832 schools were conducted. Some 1,537 academic lyceums and professional colleges were constructed. He added that the number of higher educational establishments grew twice during independence years and reached 65.

Uzbekistan has been observing Day of teachers and tutors on 1 October since 1996.
