Uzbekistan to adopt updated foreign policy concept

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the need for the country to adopt an updated version of its Foreign Policy Concept.

He highlighted the importance of conducting active and effective foreign policy to ensure the comprehensive development of Uzbekistan, expanding its circle of friends and partners, and deepening cooperation with neighboring states.

In this context, the President underscored the significance of adopting a new Foreign Policy Concept aimed at strengthening mutually beneficial ties and partnerships.

Key priorities remain the strengthening of good-neighborly relations in Central Asia, as well as ensuring regional security and stability. He reminded that next year Uzbekistan will host the "Central Asian Five" summit, which will be an important step for the region’s further development.

A plan to implement a system for the seamless border crossing for citizens of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan, similar to the system already in place with Kyrgyzstan, was also announced. This system allows travel using only an ID card.

Furthermore, the President emphasized that special attention will be paid to deepening cooperation with Central Asia, as well as with other key partner countries, international and regional organizations, and financial institutions.

In conclusion, the President thanked the participants of the meeting — the diplomatic corps and representatives of international organizations — expressing gratitude for their sincere support of reforms and for sharing experiences through cooperation.
