Economy 11/02/2009 Uzbekistan to adopt measures to boost ties with Greece
Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan approved measures on development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Greece for short-term. The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan signed a corresponding resolution on 28 January 2008.

The measures cover political, cultural, economic and other aspects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Greece.

In the political sphere, it is planned to organize the visit of Deputy Foreign Minister Theodore Kassimis to Uzbekistan in the second half of 2009, organize friendship group at the Oluy Majlis of Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan also plans to help Greece to open embassy of the country in Tashkent, capital city.

The side will also develop inter-governmental cooperation agreement in healthcare, taxation and fight against crime. It is also planed to ink partnership agreements between Tashkent and Athens, Samarkand and Thessaloniki.

Uzbekistan also plans attract Greek companies to development of tourism infrastructure in Uzbekistan and organize tourism faculty in one of the Uzbek universities.

It is planned to hold the third session of the joint Uzbek-Greek committee on economic and technological cooperation and business forum in Tashkent.

The Uzbek side is also planning to expand cooperation with the Greek companies to attract foreign direct investments into food, light, agriculture industries, production of wine and wine products, tourism, ICT, etc.
