Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The third plenary session of the Senate actively discussed the Law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aimed at Further Developing the Art of Live Performance."
A law has been adopted in Uzbekistan to support and promote the art of live performance. The Senate approved amendments affecting the laws "On Consumer Protection," "On Cultural Activities and Cultural Organizations," and "On Advertising."
The new changes significantly expand the Ministry of Culture’s authority in the field of musical arts.
The Ministry will regulate the use of phonograms at state concert and entertainment events and monitor compliance with copyright laws and the use of phonograms by performers.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Culture will enhance support for creative workers contributing to the development of national art and culture.
The law requires concert organizers to indicate the proportion of phonogram use in advertising. This information must occupy at least 10% of the advertising space, allowing the audience to consciously choose events and be informed about how "live" the performance will be. The law aims to ensure maximum transparency: who is singing, who wrote the music, and how much of the concert will be covered by a phonogram.
The adopted amendments are intended to improve the quality of concerts, pave the way for new talents, support performers who prefer live sound, and, of course, protect consumer rights. It is expected that the law will have a positive impact on the development of Uzbekistan’s entire music industry.
The law has been approved by the senators.
