Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – From 1 February, Uzbekiston Temir Yollari has suspended transportation of goods to Afghanistan via the Hairaton-Mazar-i-Sharif section due to the failure of the Afghan side to carry out the agreed technical work. This was reported by the press service of the company.

In December 2022, Sogdiana Trans of the Uzbekiston Temir Yollari, which provides all services of the Hairatan-Mazar-i-Sharif railway, and the administration of the Afghan Railway agreed on an action plan for the gradual implementation of technical work by Afghan railway workers on the territory of Afghanistan by 1 February 2023.

The parties also planned to sign by 27 January an extension contract for the operation and maintenance of the Hairatan-Mazar-i-Sharif line in Afghanistan.

The administration of the Afghan Railway did not have time to implement the agreed measures on time, the company from Uzbekistan notes.

Uzbekistan Temir Yollari noted that Sogdiana Trans will assist in the delivery of essential goods to Afghanistan by trucks from logistics centers and through the river port in Termez.
