Uzbekistan suspends gas supply to South Kyrgyzstan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Supply of natural gas has been suspended due to consumers’ indebtedness in Osh (Kyrgyzstan), 24.kg reported.

Uzbekistan fully stopped gas supply of the south region of Kyrgyzstan on the night of September 24, 2009, the Oshgas company informed the news agency 24.kg Thursday.

As to Alimjan Baigazakov, the Vice Mayor of the south capital, negotiations with Uzbekistan have already started.

“City administration plans to establish a special agency to deal with the issue but the main task at the time is to resume gas supply,” the official said.

“First of all we need to pay off the debt to our neighbor,” the vice mayor said.

Gas debt of Osh residents reportedly amounted to $2 million.
