Uzbekistan supports SCO’s economic cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan actively participated in further development of economic cooperation within the SCO, Jahon news agency reported.

The agency said currently 44% of Uzbekistan’s turnover fell to share of the SCO member states, while in last five years aggregate share exceeded 40%.

The SCO member states are Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

The agency said that the important directions of the SCO activity are development of cooperation in trade-economic and investment spheres, as well as transport-communication potential of the region.

The SCO has programme of multilateral trade-economic cooperation, approved on 30 November 2008. The programme includes 85 projects and measures in such directions as trade and investment, finance and tax, use of minerals and environment protection, customs procedures, etc.

Uzbekistan is for more active use and attraction of resources and markets of the SCO member states, which will help to ensure sustainable development and employment of population, as well as improvement of population’s well-being.

Investment cooperation within the SCO mainly carried out within the bilateral agreements. The article said over 1,273 enterprises with investments of the SCO states operate in Uzbekistan, of which 246 enterprises with 100% foreign capital.

Ministry for Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan accredited 241 firms and companies of the SCO states. Over 519 enterprises with the Uzbek investments were created in the SCO countries.

The agency said creation of favourable conditions for trade and investment, training of the specialists, and information exchange will play important role in investment interaction.
