Uzbekistan Strengthens Its Position in ITU Global Digital Ranking, Improving by 1.6 Points
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the annual Information and Communication Technology Development Index (IDI 2025), published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and based on 2023 data, Uzbekistan scored 86.5 out of a possible 100 points, moving closer to the level of high-income countries.
Compared to last year, the country improved its result by 1.6 points. The average score among CIS countries stood at 86.9, while lower-middle-income countries reached 88.2 points.
Uzbekistan significantly outperformed the global average of 78.2 points, underscoring the rapid development of its digital infrastructure and the active adoption of ICT services.
Among Central Asian nations, Uzbekistan ranked second: Kazakhstan scored 90.5, Uzbekistan 86.5, and Kyrgyzstan 85.9.
The ITU report placed special emphasis on Uzbekistan’s regulatory progress. While in 2020 the country stood at the G1 level in the ICT Regulatory Tracker with a score of 27.5, by 2024 it had advanced to G3, achieving 72.5 points.
This reflects the formation of a mature regulatory system in the ICT sector, focused on sustainable development, competition, and international compatibility.
As a result, Uzbekistan has become the only country in Central Asia to reach the G3 level, significantly boosting confidence among international investors and technology partners.
