Uzbekistan Strengthens Cooperation with the UN in the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Director of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry, Abdulla Azizov, held a working meeting with representatives of United Nations system agencies, including WHO, UNAIDS, UNOPS, UNFPA, and UNODC.
During the discussions, the parties reviewed prospects for cooperation in the localization of pharmaceutical production, enhancement of product quality, development of clinical research, and digitalization of the pharmaceutical sector.
The Agency presented a unique concept for an innovative scientific and industrial pharmaceutical cluster — Tashkent Pharma Park. This cluster is designed to bring together the Technical Pharmaceutical University, research institutes, production facilities, logistics networks, and regulatory bodies.
UN representatives highly praised Uzbekistan’s achievements in certification, the implementation of international standards, and the adoption of digital solutions, including monitoring and tracking systems.
They expressed readiness to cooperate on issues related to the localization of production, product standardization, pharmacovigilance, and sustainable development — including in the area of “green pharmaceuticals.”
