Uzbekistan starts with a confident victory over Thailand at the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan U17 national team started their campaign at AFC U17 Asian Cup 2025 with a dominant 4-1 victory over Thailand.

The match, part of Group A, took place at the "Okaz" stadium in Saudi Arabia and served as an excellent start for the Uzbek team.

The match began with a dangerous moment near Uzbekistan’s goal: in the opening seconds, Nattakit Phosri received a precise pass from Danuphon Buppa but failed to get a shot on target. However, just a minute later, Uzbekistan punished their opponent for the missed opportunity — Sadriddin Khasanov, receiving a pass from Saifiddin Sodikov after his solo run, confidently sent the ball into the net to open the scoring.

Eleven minutes later, Sodikov again provided a decisive pass, setting up Nurbek Sarsenbaev, who coolly placed the ball into the lower corner of the goal.

In the 40th minute, Thailand managed to reduce the deficit: substitute winger Silva Mexes from the Manchester United academy broke into the penalty area and fired a powerful shot that was unstoppable for Nematul Rustamjonov.

However, in the second half, Thailand’s hopes of a comeback were seriously undermined when Phurinat Phulkamlang received a straight red card for a rough foul against Sodikov in the 54th minute. Reduced to 10 players, Thailand found themselves under heavy pressure.

Uzbekistan capitalized on their numerical advantage and increased the intensity of their attacks. Goalkeeper Pumraphi Siribunyaakul made several crucial saves, but in the 80th minute, he was powerless when Aslbek Aliyev took advantage of a defensive error by Watkhanyu Nairatsami and calmly placed the ball into the lower corner.

Four minutes later, Abubakir Shukurullaev spectacularly struck from 20 meters, sealing the victory with a final score of 4-1.

In the dying moments of the match, Khabibullaev could have made the score even more emphatic, but Siribunyaakul managed to divert his shot to a corner. Nevertheless, Uzbekistan demonstrated excellent play and confidently started their tournament, aiming for a spot in the knockout stage.
