Uzbekistan starts to modernize Charvak hydro power station
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia’s Open joint stock company “Siloviye Mashini” (OJSC Power Machines) started modernization of Charvak hydro power station in Tashkent region of Uzbekistan, RIA Novosti reported.

The Russian company supplied the first party of equipment and it will start assembly works in February. Everything is ready to implementation of technical part of the project.

In May 2012, OJSC Power Machines and unitary enterprise “Kaskad Urta-Chirchiq hydropower station”, which was part of Uzbekenergo state joint stock company, signed a contract on modernization four hydraulic units of Charvak hydropower station in Uzbekistan. The sum of contract was not announced.

Modernization of Charvak hydropower station will allow to increase its capacity from 155 to 157 megawatt, which will help to produce additionally 120 million kilowatt-hour a year. The project will be implemented within three years.

The project cost is US$56.5 million and it is financed due to loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan worth US$35 million and own resources of Uzbekenergo.
