Uzbekistan starts gas supplies to China
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan started regular gas supplies to China. This was announced at the meeting of the Uzbek President Islam Karimov and Vice Premier of the State Council of China Hui Liangyu.

During the meeting it was noted that the regular gas supplies of the Uzbek gas to China have been launched in China.

The construction and commissioning of the third string of Uzbekistan-China gas pipeline is to help increase considerably the volumes of natural gas export and transit from Central Asia to China

Construction of Central Asia – China gas pipeline has been started in July 2008 and it was launched in December 2009.

Total extension of gas pipeline, construction of which was started in July 2008, makes up 7000 km. The extension of pipeline in Turkmenistan makes up 188 km, Uzbekistan – 525 km, Kazakhstan – 1,293 km and China – 4,860 km. The second line was launched on 20 October 2010. The third line will be commissioned by 2014.

The second line of the Uzbek part of gas pipeline has been opened on 20 October 2010. The capacity of the line is 30 billion cubic meters of gas a year. The launch of the third line will help to raise its capacity to 55 billion cubic meters of gas a year.

Construction of the third line of the Uzbek part of gas pipeline “Central Asia – China” will be completed in January 2015.

Energonews reporting quoting the source in the Uzbek government that Uzbekistan will export 4-5 billion cubic meters of gas to China by the end of 2012. By 2016, the exports of the Uzbek gas to China will reach 25 billion cubic meters of gas a year.
