Uzbekistan softens penalties for illegal use of drones

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is mitigating penalties for the illegal use of unmanned aerial vehicles.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law that amended the Code of Administrative Responsibility.

The document stipulates mitigation of penalties for the illegal use of unmanned aerial vehicles.

In accordance with the new regulations, administrative liability is imposed for the illegal import, sale, acquisition, storage or use of drones, as well as components and spare parts for them.

It establishes the confiscation at the expense of the state of unmanned aerial vehicles identified as a result of an administrative offense, the release of a person who committed unlawful acts from liability upon voluntary surrender of unmanned aerial vehicles, components and spare parts for them, and the consideration of cases of administrative offenses of this category by criminal courts.

Also, Article 2444 of the Criminal Code includes in these sanctions such types of punishment as an alternative fine, correctional labor, restriction of freedom, that is, such actions provide for criminal liability if they are committed after the application of an administrative penalty.

The law will come into force three months after its signing.
