Uzbekistan sets order of exchange office activities
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov approved an order of activities of currency exchange points in the country with his resolution from 30 January 2013.

According to regulation on order of purchase and sales of hard currency to individuals and on exchange points, Central Bank should register all exchange points.

The exchange points can carry out operations on sale and purchase of hard currency and other operations, set by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

The authorized banks and their branches should set hard currency and national currency limit to each exchange point, which should ensure their uninterrupted work during a day.

Bank officers should have ID cards during work hours and personal stamp with their surnames.

At the same time, officers of exchange points cannot hand over their work to other persons. Relatives cannot work in the same exchange point, the document said.

The regulation said that the hard currency cannot be exchange in absentia. The exchange points cannot exchange hard currency without entering the deal to single inter-banking electronic system of hard currency operations.

Employees of exchange points should carry out transactions without issuing special certificates or issue certificates without conduction exchange operations.

They also cannot bring their own saving in national and hard currencies to exchange point, as well as save their money in pay desk with valuables of exchange point.

The document said that third parties cannot enter to exchange point and employees cannot leave hard currency, letterheads, stamps at exchange point during time off. The valuables and reports should be delivered to the bank on the same day.

Upon detection of shortages and surplus cash, as well as other violations, banks will conduct official investigation, while guilty persons will receive disciplinary punishments, including termination of contract for loss of trust. The cases can be directed to law enforcement bodies for investigation.
