Uzbekistan sends aid to flood-affected regions of Kyrgyzstan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan has sent humanitarian aid to residents of southern regions of Kyrgyzstan affected by floods.

According to Dunyo news agency, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the organization of humanitarian aid to be sent to Kyrgyzstan.

On 28 June, heavy rains caused flooding in Osh and Batken regions. According to official data, more than 10 people, including children, died as a result of the natural disaster. The flooding also led to destruction in several settlements, from where more than 1300 people were evacuated.

The humanitarian cargo was delivered to the border crossing point of Kyzyl-Kiya in Batken region and handed over to the administration of the Nookat district in Osh region.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, the total weight of the humanitarian cargo was 95 tons. It included flour, vegetable oil, sugar, and other food products, as well as essential goods.
