Uzbekistan Senate to Convene Ninth Plenary Session on August 1
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 31 July 2025, the Council of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis held a meeting during which a resolution was adopted to convene the ninth plenary session of the Senate. The session will take place on 1 August 2025.
The agenda includes issues related to the further advancement of ongoing reforms in the socio-economic, legal, and human rights spheres. Senators will discuss draft laws on improving licensing, permitting, and notification procedures; enhancing the accountability of conformity assessment bodies; granting additional opportunities to entrepreneurs who voluntarily withdraw products; and introducing amendments concerning the institution of mediation.
The Senate will also consider a law on Uzbekistan’s accession to the International Metric Convention. In addition, senators will hear a report from the Prosecutor General on the activities of the prosecution authorities in 2024.
The agenda further includes parliamentary inquiries to the Cabinet of Ministers and relevant ministers regarding infrastructure development, regulation of construction in the regions, as well as the cultivation and processing of medicinal plants.
The plenary session is expected to feature reports from members of the government and heads of ministries and agencies, along with an assessment of the work being carried out at the local level.
