Uzbekistan seizes 111 kg of narcotic substances
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The law enforcement agencies of Uzbekistan have seized 111 kg of narcotic substances during operational activities.
In Samarkand region, three Tajik nationals were detained while attempting to smuggle 10.9 kg of opium through bypass roads into the Urgut district. The detained individuals were brothers born in 1980, 1982, and 1989.
During subsequent actions, their accomplice, a woman born in 1982 and residing in the Urgut district, was arrested. Authorities seized 13.1 kg of opium from her home, which was processed according to legal procedures.
Criminal charges have been filed against these individuals, and they have been placed under arrest.
In another case, during operational activities conducted in the Tashkent region near the border with Tajikistan in the Bekabad district, it was revealed that narcotics had been smuggled through the Dalvarzin channel, located in the Mastchoh district of Tajikistan’s Sughd region, into the Bekabad district. In three containers, 8.4 kg of opium and 59.3 kg of hashish were discovered.
Four individuals, likely sent to the border to receive the narcotics, were detained. These individuals, born in 1985, 1989, 1996, and 1997, are residents of the Bekabad city and district. Two of them had previous convictions.
Criminal charges have been filed against them under articles 246, part 2, and 273, part 5 of the Criminal Code, and they have been placed under arrest.
Another incident was recorded in the Bekabad district, where a sports bag was found in a field 400-500 meters from the Uzbekistan-Tajikistan border. The bag contained 3.9 kg of opium and 15.5 kg of hashish. The narcotics were seized and processed according to legal procedures.
A criminal case has been initiated under article 273, part 5 of the Criminal Code, and efforts are underway to identify the individuals who left the drugs.
