Uzbekistan, Russia discuss cooperation in tourism sector
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development Aziz Abdukhakimov met with head of the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation Oleg Safonov within the 22nd session of the General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) held in Chengdu (China).

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, including increasing number of Russian tourists visiting Uzbekistan. The parties agreed to develop special tourist packages for Russian tourists in the light of their interests and needs, as well as to intensify activities to promote the national tourism product of Uzbekistan in the Russian tourist market.

Particular attention was paid to development of bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism at the regional level. The sides agreed on activation of activities to attract tourists from the regions of the Russian Federation, where there is regular direct air and rail communication.

The issue of organization of special tours to Uzbekistan for employees of large employers of the Russian Federation using the possibilities of trade unions was also discussed.

The Russian side expressed its readiness to render all possible assistance in resolving all practical issues on the territory of the Russian Federation, in particular, it was proposed to organize a meeting in Moscow with the participation of major tour operators of the two countries to identify specific areas and sign agreements on sending tourists from Russia to Uzbekistan .

To implement the agreements reached, the parties decided to establish a joint Working Group and approve the corresponding Road Map for 2017-2018.

At the end of the meeting, the head of Rosturism was invited to visit Uzbekistan to participate in the Tashkent International Tourism Exhibition “Tourism on the Silk Road”, which will be held in Tashkent from 3 to 6 October 2017.
