Uzbekistan Rises to 67th Place in the 2025 Global Peace Index

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan ranked 67th out of 163 countries in the 2025 Global Peace Index, moving up two positions compared to last year.

According to the ranking, Kazakhstan was recognized as the most peaceful country in the region, taking the 56th spot.

The index is based on 23 indicators reflecting levels of societal safety, the intensity of internal and external conflicts, and the degree of militarization. Turkmenistan was rated the least peaceful country in Central Asia, ranking 87th. Tajikistan was placed 79th, while Kyrgyzstan took 78th place.

Iceland, Ireland, and New Zealand traditionally led the global ranking. At the bottom of the list were Ukraine and Russia, ranked 162nd and 163rd respectively. The United States was placed much lower in the table, at 128th.

The report notes that in recent years, global peace has been steadily declining, with the risk of large-scale military conflicts reaching its highest level since the Second World War. Currently, there are 59 active armed conflicts worldwide.
