Uzbekistan registers 12th CDM project
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) registered the twelfth Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project of Uzbekistan “Reducing gas leaks in low pressure and medium pressure gas distribution networks in Bukhara and Navoi regions”.

National CDM Body said that the project will allow to cut 818,000 tonnes of Certified Emission Reductions (CER) a year. The project is implemented by Uztransgaz joint stock company and Climate Change Capital (Great Britain).

Currently, the UNFCCC registered twelve CDM projects of Uzbekistan with total planned emission reductions of about 5,22 million tonnes of CO2-equivallent a year.

It is worth to mention that Uzbekistan leads in Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on number of projects and in the world – 10th place on calculated volume of emission reduction and 20th place on number of registered CDM projects.
