Uzbekistan reduces gas supplies to Tajikistan over arrears
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Uzbekistan has again reduced gas supplies to Tajikistan, the Avesta news agency reported on 2 September quoting a source in the open joint-stock company Tojiktransgaz (Tajik gas transportation).
Thus, the import of the Uzbek gas to Tajikistan was reduced by 60%, the report said.
Now Tajikistan is receiving 12,500 cubic meters of the Uzbek gas per hour, or about 400,000 cubic meters of gas per day, the report added.
The reason for reducing gas supplies was Tajikistan’s US$17.4 million debt to the Uztransgaz (Uzbek gas transportation), the report concluded.
