Uzbekistan Recognized as the Best Cultural Tourism Destination at the Global Tourism Forum in Brussels

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Chairman of the Tourism Committee Umid Shadiyev, took part in the Global Tourism Forum held in Brussels, the capital of the Kingdom of Belgium.

The event, held under the theme “Rethinking Tourism in a Changing World,” brought together ministers and senior officials from dozens of countries, representatives of international organizations, and leading figures of the global tourism industry.

The main objectives of the forum included strengthening the resilience of the tourism sector, attracting investment, promoting women’s and youth leadership, introducing innovative technologies, and expanding international cooperation.

At the opening ceremony, participants were presented with detailed information about Uzbekistan’s tourism potential, the reforms underway in the country, and joint projects implemented with the United Nations in line with the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Uzbekistan national stand drew considerable attention from attendees.

In recognition of its successful transformation of the tourism sector, Uzbekistan was awarded the title of “Best Cultural Tourism Destination.”

During the forum, members of the Uzbek delegation met with the newly elected Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization, Sheikha Al-Nuaimi.

In addition, meetings were held to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Apostolos Tzitzikostas, European Commissioner for Sustainable Tourism and Transport; Kubanichbek Omuraliev, Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States; Sherif Fathi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt; and Justin Reed, Director at TripAdvisor.
