Uzbekistan receives remittances for US$5.11 billion in 2018

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The volume of cross-border remittances to Uzbekistan made up over US$5.11 billion in 2018 (US$4.89 billion in 2017), the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said.

According to the Central Bank, funds were transferred from Uzbekistan to foreign countries for US$899.9 million (US$724.5 million in 2017).

Last year, Uzbekistan received remittances worth US$4.35 billion (US$4.29 billion in 2017) from the CIS countries, including US$3.96 billion (US$3.9 billion in 2017) from Russia and US$320 million(US$317.9 million in 2017) from Kazakhstan.

The volume of remittances from other countries exceeded US$767 million in 2018 (US$606.3 million in 2017). Individuals transferred funds from the United States to Uzbekistan for US$188.4 million, from Turkey - US$203.8 million, and from South Korea - US$108.3 million.

At the same time, the volume of remittances from Uzbekistan to the CIS countries in 2018 reached US$556.8 million (US$470.9 million in 2017) and other countries - US$343 million (US$253.6 million in 2017). Last year, individuals transferred US$402.2 million from Uzbekistan to Russia.
