Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A new cross-border transfer between telecommunication networks of Uzbektelecom and ElKat (the Republic of Kyrgyzstan) on Kuvasai (Fergana region) - Kyzyl-Kiya (Batken region) was constructed.
According to Uzbektelecom, the new international telecommunications joint was accepted for commercial operation on 16 August 2018.
Telecommunication operators of the two countries signed an agreement on mutual joining of telecommunications networks and provision of telecommunications services.
Uzbektelecom said that new border crossing with ElKat will open an alternative route for Internet access, which will pass through the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
This route will also increase the export potential of Uzbektelecom by providing transit communication channels in the directions of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
