Uzbekistan ranks 53rd in the World Happiness Report

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has secured 53rd place in the latest World Happiness Report, published by the Oxford Wellbeing Research Centre in collaboration with Gallup Institute. The country outperformed Kyrgyzstan (75th place), Tajikistan (90th place), and Russia (66th place) in the ranking.

The study is based on two key indicators. The first assesses how residents rate their quality of life on a scale from 0 to 10, with Uzbekistan scoring an average of 6.2 points. The second indicator evaluates social engagement, including charitable activities, willingness to help strangers, adherence to laws, and an analysis of positive and negative emotions within society.

The report covers 147 countries, and compared to last year, Uzbekistan dropped by six positions. Kazakhstan ranked 43rd, positioning itself higher on the list.

For the eighth consecutive year, Finland has maintained its status as the world's happiest country, followed by Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, and the Netherlands. Meanwhile, Lebanon, Sierra Leone, and Afghanistan ranked among the lowest in life satisfaction.

Experts attribute Finland’s top ranking to strong social support systems, low corruption, equitable income distribution, and individual freedoms. Additionally, the country's rich natural environment contributes significantly to the high quality of life for its citizens.
