It is expected that the Casting and Mechanical Plant for the Locomotive Workshop will maintain and refurbish locomotives more efficiently and to higher standards.

The proposed project, which has a total estimated cost of US$12.0 million equivalent, will require the procurement Casting and Mechanical Plant for the Locomotive Workshop, consisting of press-forging equipment, equipment for the blank production shop, woodworking section, tool and mechanical shop, common transport, mechanical shop, repair mechanical shop and heat-treatment section.

Tendering for the contract is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2010.

The project is financed due to loan of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The EBRD allocated 48.371 million euros to Locomotive Re-powering Project with total cost of 59.041 million euros.
