Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has proposed developing an agreement to remove trade restrictions with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This was announced by the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, during a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council held as part of the Digital Almaty 2025 forum.
Uzbekistan has held the status of an observer in the EAEU since 2020, and the Prime Minister participated in the meeting in this capacity.
Aripov emphasized the importance of creating a draft agreement on the non-application of tariff and non-tariff restrictions in mutual trade between Uzbekistan and the EAEU member states. He noted that such a document could help deepen economic cooperation and eliminate existing barriers.
Additionally, the Prime Minister mentioned that Uzbekistan is considering joining the unified customs transit system between the EAEU and third countries to optimize and simplify cargo transportation.
In his speech, Aripov also expressed Uzbekistan’s readiness to engage in the financial support mechanism for cooperative projects in industry, which operates within the framework of the EAEU.
The Prime Minister invited representatives of the EAEU member states to attend major events to be held in Tashkent in April 2025, including the "Innoprom. Central Asia" exhibition, the meeting of the EAEU Business Council, and the first CIS Regions Forum.
