Uzbekistan produces 5.4m tonnes of vegetables in 9m
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan produced 5.4 million tonnes of vegetables and 1.4 million tonnes of fruits and barriers in nine months of 2012. The joint statement of the Ministry of Economy and State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan on social-economic development of Uzbekistan in nine months of 2012 said.

The materials said Uzbekistan significantly increase lands allocated to production of vegetables, gardens and vineyards. It said that Uzbekistan sowed vegetables to 244,100 hectares, potatoes – 84,600 hectares and melons and gourds – 58,100 hectares.

New gardens were created at 7,600 hectares, of which 2,600 hectares are intensive gardens and 3,800 hectares – vineyards. The country also reconstructed 8,500 hectares gardens and 6,000 hectares of vineyards.

About 9,456 greenhouses were created at 266.8 hectares of population’s lands. Some 44 new refrigerators for 13,400 tonnes were created in Uzbekistan and 12 refrigerators for 8,300 tonnes were modernized in nine months of 2012.

In the result of adopted measures, Uzbekistan produced 5.4 million tonnes of vegetables (+11.1 year-on-year), 1.5 million tonnes of portfolio (+10.7%), over 1 million tonnes of melons and gourds (+9%), 1.4 million tonnes of fruits and barriers (+10.3%), 0.8 million tonnes of grapes (+12.1%). The volume of processing of vegetables and fruits rose 5.1% year-on-year to 1.1 million tonnes.

Commercial banks of Uzbekistan issued 60.4 billion soums to purchase cattle to private, dehkan and farm entities to develop cattle breeding in the reporting period.

Some 802 cattle farms for 19,600 heads, 557 poultry farms for 3.8 million birds, 520 fish farms and 511 beekeeping farms were created in Uzbekistan in January-September 2012.

In the result, number of cattle rose by 5.7% year-on-year to 9.97 million. Meat production grew by 7$ to 1.211 million tonnes, milk – 7.2% to 5.261 million tonnes), eggs – by 14% - 2.92 billion units.
