Uzbekistan produced industrial goods worth 629.2 trillion soums in the first nine months of 2024.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  According to preliminary data, from January to September 2024, enterprises in Uzbekistan produced industrial goods worth 629.2 trillion soums, with the industrial production volume index at 107.0% compared to the same period in 2023, the Statistics Agency said in a report.

Currently, 64.1 thousand industrial enterprises operate in Uzbekistan. Of these, 11.2 thousand (17.5% of the total) are based in Tashkent, 6.7 thousand (10.4%) in Ferghana, 6.7 thousand (10.4%) in the Tashkent region, 5.4 thousand (8.4%) in Samarkand, and 5.2 thousand (8.1%) in Andijan.

An analysis of industrial output per capita for January-September 2024 revealed significant above-average results across Uzbekistan (16.97 million soums per person), especially in Navoi (94.27 million soums), Tashkent (41.15 million soums), and the Tashkent region (32 million soums).

The largest share of production was held by the manufacturing sector (84.7%), which produced goods worth 532.8 trillion soums.

In terms of regional industrial output for January-September 2024, Tashkent city led with 20.1%, followed by Navoi (16.2%), Tashkent region (15.6%), Andijan (9.9%), Ferghana (5.4%), and Samarkand (5.1%).

Compared to the same period in 2023, average industrial output across the country grew, driven by enterprises in Surkhandarya (+8.8%), Namangan (+8.4%), Andijan (+8.2%), Tashkent city (+8.5%), Ferghana (+8.3%), and Navoi (+7.8%).

The mining and quarrying sector produced goods worth 49.7 trillion soums in January-September 2024, accounting for 7.9% of total industrial output.

The manufacturing sector produced goods worth 532.8 trillion soums, making up 84.7% of the total industrial output for the same period.

In the manufacturing sector, high-tech industries accounted for 1.3% (unchanged from January-September 2023), medium-high-tech industries for 21.9% (down from 24.2%), medium-low-tech industries for 37.8% (unchanged), and low-tech industries for 39.0% (up from 36.7%).

Within the manufacturing sector, the share of enterprises producing, repairing, and installing machinery and equipment, as well as manufacturing motor vehicles, trailers, and other finished metal products, was 20.2%, with the production volume index at 108.3% compared to January-September 2023. The metallurgical industry accounted for 23.0%, with a production volume index of 105.7%, while enterprises producing textiles, clothing, and leather goods made up 16.7%, with a volume index of 113.4%.

The food, beverage, and tobacco industries accounted for 18.2% of the manufacturing sector, with a production volume index of 104.6% compared to January-September 2023, while the chemical, rubber, and plastic products industries accounted for 7.9%, with a volume index of 107.4%.

From January to September 2024, 995.2 thousand tons of motor gasoline were produced (down by 1.1% compared to the same period in 2023), 480.5 thousand tons of cotton yarn (up by 9.6%), 199.1 million liters of beer (down by 2.6%), and 687.2 thousand tons of wheat flour (down by 14.8%).

During this period, large enterprises produced 2,495 trucks (an increase of 12.5% compared to the same period in 2023).

Large enterprises also produced 578 buses from January to September 2024, which was a decrease of 10.7% compared to the same period in 2023.

In Uzbekistan’s automotive industry, 117,705 Cobalt cars were produced during January-September 2024 (a 53.8% increase from the same period in 2023), 5,619 Chery cars (down by 23.4%), 14,214 KIA cars (up by 13.9%), 12,837 Gentra cars (down by 78.0%), 70,030 Damas cars (up by 16.6%), 18,880 specialized passenger cars (up by 24.1%), 31,197 Tracker cars (up by 10.4%), 24,753 Onix cars (up by 12.1%), 6 Lada cars, and 1,803 Haval cars.

In the same period, large enterprises in Uzbekistan produced 7.42 million bumpers (up by 84.6% compared to the same period in 2023) and 187.1 thousand automobile engines (up by 6.3% compared to the same period in 2023).

In the January-September 2024 period, large machine-building enterprises in Uzbekistan produced 745.2 thousand lead-acid batteries for starting piston engines, marking an 8.8% decrease compared to the same period in 2023.

Additionally, 320.6 thousand refrigerators and freezers were produced by large enterprises, showing a sharp decline of 44.5% compared to the same period last year.

Capital restoration of technological equipment increased capacity utilization in chemical enterprises, leading to higher production of sodium carbonate (up 5.5% compared to January-September 2023) and potassium chloride (up 10.2%).

In January-September 2024, the metallurgical industry accounted for 23.0% of the manufacturing sector, with a physical volume growth index of 5.7%, and production volume amounting to 122.66 trillion soums.

The share of non-metallic mineral products in manufacturing was 5.5%, with an increase in physical volume by 13.5%, reaching 29.11 trillion soums.

Food products made up 14.1% of the manufacturing sector, with a physical volume index of 104.6% and a production volume of 74.93 trillion soums. Beverages constituted 3.5% of manufacturing, with a volume index of 100.8% and production reaching 18.72 trillion soums.

Textile production accounted for 1.8% of manufacturing, with a physical volume increase of 14.0%, reaching 62.65 trillion soums. Clothing production made up 4.4%, with a volume increase of 11.5% and production amounting to 23.52 trillion soums.

Chemical production comprised 5.6% of manufacturing, with a 2.6% rise in physical volume, producing 29.77 trillion soums. Coke and petroleum products accounted for 3.8%, with a 1.6% increase and production reaching 20.01 trillion soums.

Rubber and plastic products had a 2.3% share, with a significant physical volume growth of 127.8% and production totaling 12.31 trillion soums. Finished metal products (excluding machinery and equipment) represented 2.3%, with a physical volume decrease of 81.6% and production amounting to 12.02 trillion soums.

The automotive, trailers, and semi-trailers sector made up 11.6% of manufacturing, with a physical volume index of 107.9% and production totaling 61.81 trillion soums.

The electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector produced goods worth 43.3 trillion soums (6.9% of total industrial production). Electricity production was 93.6% and heat energy was 94.2% compared to the same period in 2023.

Water supply, sewage, waste collection, and disposal enterprises produced goods worth 3.4 trillion soums (0.5% of total industrial production) during January-September 2024. There was a 4.0% decrease in textile waste production, a 1.6-fold increase in wastewater removal and treatment services, and a 0.9% decrease in septic tank cleaning services.

Small businesses produced goods worth 198.3 trillion soums, accounting for 31.5% of total industrial production. In January-September 2023, small businesses contributed 25.9% to total output.

The localization program for producing finished goods, components, and materials also contributed to industrial development, with 2,233 projects producing goods worth 79.0 trillion soums, exporting US$869.3 million worth of localized products, and creating 13,411 new jobs.
