Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Automaker UzAuto Motors is preparing to stop production of the Chevrolet Lacetti (or Gentra) sedan, produced in Uzbekistan since 2003. Production of the Lacetti will end in early 2024.

The released production capacity will be redistributed for Chevrolet Cobalt and Onix sedans. In addition, the plant plans to launch a new budget model of the American brand, although its name remains a secret for now.

It is expected that before the final stop of production, the automaker will offer the last batch of Lacetti to its customers.

Previously engaged in the production of spare parts for this model, they have now been redistributed to the production of components for Tracker and Onix.

The reason for this decision is the policy of GM Global; enterprises that produce components for it are redirecting production capacity to newer models.

In 2024, UzAuto Motors will also stop producing three Chevrolet Tracker models - LS, LTZ and Premier. Instead, Plus and Readline versions will be available.
