Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to soften the punishment for the illegal import and use of drones.

The Adolat party discussed the draft law “On amendments and additions to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on administrative liability in connection with the liberalization of liability for certain categories of criminal acts.”

It was noted that the initiation of criminal cases against citizens and foreign tourists for the illegal import of drones causes a negative reaction from the public. This also negatively affects the image of Uzbekistan.

The draft law supplements the Code of Administrative Responsibility with Article 185-4. The document stipulates administrative liability for the illegal import, sale, acquisition, storage or use of unmanned aerial vehicles, their components and spare parts.

Also, the sanctions provided for in Article 244-4 of the Criminal Code include alternative types of punishment, such as fines, correctional labor, and restriction of freedom.
