Uzbekistan plans to implement a program on financial literacy
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Central Bank of Uzbekistan and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) intend to begin implementation of a program on financial literacy for representatives of small businesses, private entrepreneurship and the public.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Uzbekistan Banks Association, as well as commercial banks will also participate in implementation of the program.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan and IFC are actively involved in improving the financial literacy of small business, private entrepreneurship and population of the country as a whole.

Within the framework of seminar, a presentation of a comprehensive financial education program for business entities and public was held to raise the level of financial literacy in the country, the press service of the Central Bank said.

The program was developed by efforts of the Project on Strengthening the Financial Infrastructure in Azerbaijan and Central Asia (ACAFI) of the IFC and the Norma Center for Professional Development in order to help entrepreneurs and public improve their knowledge and skills in matters of sound financial management.

The program includes training materials on two components: 1) a program to increase financial literacy for small businesses and private entrepreneurship; and 2) a program to increase financial literacy for the rest of the population.

For start-up entrepreneurs, the Program includes materials on drawing up business plans and financial reports, making savings, and using credit competently. It is part of a broader effort to increase access to finance in the country.

It is noted that financial skills can help Uzbek people develop effective budgets, increase their savings, and lay the foundation for their well-being. Joint efforts will help many people become financially literate and improve their financial situation.
