Uzbekistan plans to create an academy to train personnel in the field of drinking water supply and sanitation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An educational institution can be created in Uzbekistan to train personnel for the drinking water supply and sanitation sector.

A meeting was held at the World Bank office in Tashkent with the participation of representatives of Uzsuvtaminot JSC, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the French Development Agency (AFD), the Islamic Development Bank, the German Development Bank (KfW), as well as Korean experts from the K-Water Academy (Seoul).

The participants discussed further steps to develop a personnel training system for the drinking water supply and sanitation sector.

A possible model for a future Water Academy was presented, which will prepare specialists from Uzsuvtaminot JSC to provide modern, sustainable and sustainable services to the public sector, households and the private sector throughout the country.

In 2021, Uzsuvtaminot JSC asked the World Bank for support in developing a long-term strategy for developing the professional potential of specialists involved in the drinking water supply and sanitation system in Uzbekistan, based on best international experience.

Among the proposed ideas was the creation of a Water Academy in Tashkent with the participation of experts from the Republic of Korea.

This work is currently being carried out under the Korea Green Growth Trust Fund, a partnership between the World Bank Group and the Republic of Korea. It was created in 2011 to help World Bank member countries develop green economies.
