Uzbekistan plans to build the first waste incineration plant

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 May, at the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, a meeting was held between Minister of Ecology Aziz Abdukhakimov and Chairman of China CAMC Engineering Wang Bo.

During the meeting, the foreign party was provided with information about the ongoing large-scale administrative reforms in the Republic of Uzbekistan, including in the field of ecology and environmental protection, and about the priority tasks assigned to the Ministry in the field of improving the waste management system.

At the same time, the guests were informed about the unprecedented measures being taken to create a favorable investment climate and increase investment attractiveness in the country.

In turn, the Chinese side noted that plans to improve the waste management system and develop the environmental industry are clearly outlined for the understanding of potential partners and investors.

During the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation on a waste incineration power plant project in the Republic of Uzbekistan was signed between the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan and China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd. People’s Republic of China.

As a result of the meeting, agreements were reached on sending a Chinese expert group to study and organize work in the field of waste management in Uzbekistan and develop an initial design of the plant for presentation to the leadership of the republic.

In addition, prospects for cooperation in the field of eco-tourism and studying the possibilities of building a new cable car in the mountainous areas of the Samarkand region were considered.

At the end of the meeting, a visit was organized for the guests to the Situation Center of the Ministry to familiarize themselves with the online system for monitoring air quality and responding to environmental violations, as well as the system for tracking waste collection and transportation equipment.
