Uzbekistan plans to attract US$2.3 billion in investments for special economic zones
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree titled “On additional measures to improve the efficiency of special economic and industrial zones.”
The document sets key targets for the development of these zones by 2025.
Specifically, it is planned to attract US$2.3 billion in investments for special economic zones, increase exports to US$1 billion, raise production volumes to US$4.3 billion, and create 12,000 new permanent jobs.
In industrial zones, the expected investments amount to US$800 million, with exports increasing to US$512.2 million, production volumes rising to US$1.8 billion, and the creation of 17,000 permanent jobs.
Additionally, new specialized zones will be formed solely as special economic or industrial zones.
Special economic zones may also operate in the format of special export zones, which are designated areas exclusively focused on the implementation of export projects.
The operational timelines for special economic zones will no longer be restricted.
