Uzbekistan plans to attract US$1bn of ADB loans in 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan plans to attract loans of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for US$1 billion in 2010, Jahon news agency of the Uzbekistan Foreign Ministry reported.

The report said the sides are planning to prepare and approve three new projects for financing priority projects in modernization of transport and energy infrastructure, as well ass assisting small businesses within the framework of Programme of Financial Cooperation.

The agency said Uzbekistan plans to attract the second tranche for US$140 million within the Programme Multitranche Financing Facility on improving water supply and sanitation services.

Over US$500 million from above-mentioned sum will be issued on preferential terms within the Asian Development Fund for 32 years with 8 year grace period and interest rate of 1.5% APR.

Uzbekistan and ADB is planning to cooperation in developing railway and motor road networks, as well as improvement agriculture water supply in regions of the country.

Uzbekistan became the ADB member in 1995. During cooperation years, ADB allotted US$1.17 billion to realization of 25 projects in Uzbekistan. The ADB is largest investor among international financial institutions.
